University of Newcastle Excellence Scholarships for African Students
The University of Newcastle in Australia is offering the Excellence Scholarships for African students who are interested in pursuing their academic goals in Australia. The scholarship is a merit-based award that recognises high-performing students with a strong academic background and incentivises them to continue striving for excellence.
The scholarship is open to students from all 54 countries in Africa who meet the eligibility criteria. The scholarship is worth $50,000 gross, which is $10,000 for each year of study under full-time study load, apportioned over each course taken as a tuition fee reduction. This makes it an attractive opportunity for African students who wish to study in Australia.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be commencing a course of study at the University of Newcastle, excluding ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses. You must also be an international full-fee paying student, commencing in an eligible program at an Australian or online campus as indicated in your letter of offer.
You must meet all of the financial obligations of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses for the purpose of obtaining your student visa, and in the event that eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained. You must not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.
To apply for the scholarship, you must submit the required documents, which include your academic transcript, completion certificate, evidence of English proficiency, and passport biometric page. For programs requiring work experience, a curriculum vitae (CV)/resume and/or letters of work experience are recommended. Scanned coloured original or certified documents are also required, and English language requirements must be met.
The scholarship offers will be made on the basis of academic merit, and successful students will receive notification of the value of their scholarship with their Letter of Offer. Scholarship offers are automatically applied for upon application to the university (where eligibility criteria is met), and students who do not receive an offer of the scholarship will not be eligible for the scholarship.
