2023 Rotary Peace Fellowship For Young Leaders

The Rotary Peace Fellowship for Young Leaders is a prestigious opportunity for individuals who are passionate about peace and development to further their education and professional development. The program, offered by Rotary Peace Centers, provides full scholarships for master's degrees and certificate studies at premier universities to up to 50 fellows for master's degrees and up to 40 fellows for certificate studies each year. The deadline for applications is May 15, 2023, for the 2024-25 academic year.

Eligibility for the Rotary Peace Fellowship is open to candidates from all countries. Master's degree candidates must have a bachelor's degree, be proficient in English, demonstrate a strong commitment to cross-cultural understanding and peace through professional and academic achievements, show potential for leadership, and have at least three years of full-time relevant experience in peace or development work. Candidates must have a gap of at least three years between the completion of their most recent academic degree program and their intended start date for the fellowship, and cannot be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

The Rotary Peace Fellowship offers two types of programs: master's degree programs and professional development certificate program. The master's degree programs provide in-depth study of peace and development issues with research-informed teaching and a diverse student body. The programs last 15 to 24 months and include a two- to three-month field study, which participants design themselves. The professional development certificate program is a one-year blended learning program designed for experienced peace and development professionals with diverse backgrounds. Fellows gain practical skills to promote peace within their communities and across the globe, complete field studies, and design and carry out a social change initiative. Fellows earn a post-graduate diploma upon completion of the program.

The Rotary Peace Fellowship covers tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and internship and field-study expenses. Fellows also have the opportunity to network with other peace and development professionals from around the world, and join a vibrant and supportive community of over 1,600 alumni who are making a difference in more than 140 countries. Rotary Peace Fellows work in various capacities, including as leaders in governments, NGOs, education and research institutions, peacekeeping and law enforcement agencies, and international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank.

Rotary endorsers must submit endorsements to The Foundation by July 1. Individuals who are active Rotary members or employees of a Rotary club, Rotary International, or other Rotary entity are not eligible for the fellowship. However, Rotaract club members who are not also Rotary club members are eligible to apply.

The Rotary Foundation is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity and encourages people with disabilities and individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed to applicants with disabilities.

If you are a young leader with a strong commitment to peace and development, this is a unique opportunity to further your education, gain practical skills, and make a positive impact on your community and the world. Don't miss the chance to apply for the Rotary Peace Fellowship for Young Leaders by May 15, 2023. For more information and application instructions, visit rotary.org/peace-fellowships.
