Cisco/I4G CyberSecurity Scholarship For Talented Africans
Cisco/I4G CyberSecurity Scholarship: Empowering African Youths with Tech Skills
In a world that is rapidly becoming more digital, the need for cybersecurity professionals is increasing rapidly. According to a report by Cybersecurity Ventures, the number of unfilled cybersecurity jobs grew from 1 million positions in 2013 to 3.5 million in 2021. Unfortunately, a lot of these roles are still unfilled due to a lack of talent. This is where the Cisco/I4G CyberSecurity Scholarship comes in.
The scholarship is a joint partnership program between Cisco and Ingressive for Good (I4G) aimed at equipping African youths with the necessary tech skills to help them build careers in Cybersecurity. The program is open to all African youths interested in cybersecurity and provides a full scholarship to successful applicants.
I4G exists to address the inequities that exist within African tech ecosystems by equipping young Africans in need with tech skills to help them impact and contribute to the development of Africa, socially and economically. The scholarship is part of I4G's initiative to award partial scholarships to tech final year students in need, to the Ivy Leagues of Africa. This financial support also provides a laptop for the student to aid their education, and every student who receives this scholarship will automatically become a part of the I4G Alumni.
The scholarship program runs for eight weeks and covers the following cybersecurity courses:
Introduction to Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity Essentials Management
Cyber Threat
Cloud Security
Network Defence
Endpoint Security
The program is self-paced, but the scholarship lasts for eight weeks, during which successful applicants will have free access to the course. At the end of the program, participants will be better equipped with the necessary skills to build successful careers in cybersecurity.
To be considered for the scholarship, interested applicants must be African youths interested in building careers in cybersecurity. The deadline for application is April 16, 2023, and qualified applicants can apply using the link provided on the I4G website.
The Cisco/I4G CyberSecurity Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity for African youths interested in building careers in cybersecurity. With the number of unfilled cybersecurity jobs predicted to remain high, this program provides a much-needed boost to the talent pool and can help address the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals in the African tech ecosystem.
